Funeral Arrangements

Friday March 20th
4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Kriegshauser West Mortuary
9450 Olive Blvd
Olivette MO 63132
314-994-3322

The memorial service will begin at 7:30. It is going to be an informal memorial. If you have something you want to share feel free to. But It is not anything set. This is a time for family and friends to say goodbye to Jim and to be there for each other.

After the services Jim will be cremated. Next week I will be taking him to Mississippi to the Ancestral home of the Choctaw to disperse his ashes and lay him to rest with his ancestors, as he wished it.

Anyone who wants to go with us to Mississippi is welcome to accompany us. All I ask is that you be respectful while we are on tribal grounds.

THank you all for your concern and condolances. I am doing alright. Right now I am more numb than anything else but I am working through everything and will be alright.

Thank you

Broken Hearted and Numb

March 16th 2009 at 3:15 pm.

My life turned upside down at that moment. My husband Jimmy Kent Rabidwolf Hickinbotham passed on from this life and moved west to the Happy Lands.

For those of you that did not know him, he was a wonderful man who made my life brighter from the moment I met him. For those of you who did know him, you know he was a cranky a**hole at times but that never diminished the joy he brought to my life.

A Memorial Service will be on Friday March 20th. I will post the time tomorrow after I get everything set up. The services will be in Missouri (email me if you want specifics to attend).

After the memorial his body will be cremated and I along with members of his family of choice will be taking his ashes to Mississippi to spread over the Mother Hill at Nanaha Wyah.

At the time of the cremation traditional song and prayer will be sent up from Oklahoma, from a traditional friend who has agreed to tend tho the ceremony for me.

At this time I can honestly say I am completely numb. I am sure things will sink in over time but for now I am just planning to get things set up then I will be able to mourn him from there.

Tired but getting better

For those of you that I have not laready text messaged, emailed or talked to on the phone Jim was taken to the hospital last night due to extremely high blood sugar and shortness of breath. He is currently in the ICU at St Johns Mercy in St Louis. He is stablilzing, his blood sugar is back down in the 130 to 150 range (as opposed to the 450 and 500 range where it was last night). He does have a pulminary embalysm. (a blood clot in his lungs). Fortunately it is under control and he is on a blood thinner to get things cleared out. He will be in the hospital for a few days most likely, definately for at least the next 48 hours. Sooooo. He is stabilized for the most part and he is in a great hospital, and the staff is letting me stay with him in the ICU room. So Here i sit, watching him sleep and helping out the nurces where I can. And thankfully they have wireless so i can do something to keep my brain from flipping out LOL.

All will be well and we are going to be alright just keep us in your prayers.

I will update as I can.

Author Contest - Friends - and Cool Stuff.!!

The Last First Book We Ever Wrote

Hello there! My name is Bree, and I’m one half of the romance-writing, virtual-crime-fighting duo known as Moira Rogers. I’m here today because Bitten by Books was kind enough to agree to help us celebrate something really exciting that only comes once in an author’s lifetime: the release of the first book we ever wrote.

Awesome, right? We sure think so! Of course, the part that takes a little bit of explaining is the part where Crux is, in fact, our sixteenth ebook to be released. A lot has happened to us since fall of 2007, when we first sat down to try and tell the story of Mackenzie and Jackson, the heroine and hero who have to fight an evil supernatural conspiracy spanning generations to win their chance at a happy ending. We scampered off to hone our craft on short stories and novellas and learned from our experience. But we always came back to this story, because in the end we loved our tough determined heroine and her smooth talkin’ detective hero too much to leave alone.

Today, in honor of Crux’s release, we’ve teamed up with Bitten by Books for a chance to make someone else just as excited as we are. We have in our possession a NEW Apple iPod touch 8 GB (1st Generation) (Retail Value $229.00), perfect for listening to music AND reading books through the awesome application Stanza. The Apple iPod touch 8 GB also holds 1,750 songs or 10 hours of video. Go here to read all about it. We’re also going to give $50.00 and $25.00 Visa Gift Cards to two lucky runners up! All you need to do is read the rules below and enter this awesome contest. And if you happen to pick up a copy of Crux, we hope you’ll love Jackson and Mackenzie as much as we do!

Book Excerpt: “Jackson Holt makes a decent living as a private investigator in New Orleans, home of one of the largest underground supernatural populations in the United States. He and his partners have never met a case they couldn’t crack…until a local bar owner asks him to do a little digging on her newest hire.

New Orleans is the fourth destination in as many months for Mackenzie Brooks, a woman on the run from a deranged stalker. After all, any man who shows up on her doorstep claiming to be her destined lover has more than a few screws loose. But crazy doesn’t explain why he always finds her no matter how far she runs.

When her well-meaning boss puts a PI on her case, Mackenzie comes face to face with the incredible truth: magic is real, and whatever spell has kept her hidden and separate from the paranormal world is rapidly deteriorating.

With time running out, she has no choice but to trust Jackson as he struggles to uncover the truth of her past-and her destiny.”

Events, Updates and explanations.

On Thursday February 19, 2009 at 5:00 pm CST. I tried to end my own life. I took approximately 20 mg of valium and between 100 and 300 mg of morphine. Some of you received a goodbye message from me at that time.

At 6pm I was in the emergency room at St Johns Mercy Medical Center being treated for the overdose and admitted into the psych program for evaluation.

The odd thing was the fact that NONE of the morphine showed up in any of my bloodwork.

I spent the night in the hospital and after talking with the Psychiatrist on friday i was allowed to come home. For the last few days I have been sleeping and trying to work all the crap out of my system and keep focused on keeping myself together while things have not changed at all here.

My problems are: I have a 16 year old bipolar child who is non responcive to anything i have tried to do to help her, and as far as i can tell she gives two shits about anything other than herself. Yes I am bitter and angry about this because i bend over backwards to help her and feel like I am shit on at every turn. Thus part of my feeling of hopelessness thrusday when i decided to take the pills.

part 2. i have a husband who is disabled and has been at home bitter and depressed since he left his job 2 years ago. He is also completely self absorbed (at least Mimi comes by it honestly) and cannot understand why I cannot and will not open up to him. I guess i got tired of trying to talk to him and everything getting turned around to be a pity party for him, or turned around to be about something he wanted to talk about or whatever the case was. I just feel like he would rather talk about his stupid electronics than really give a damn about how I am doing/feeling.

I have tried to run away into my new job but that is only making things worse here at home because I cannot keep the house up and work as much as i was before without making my depression even worse.

So in a nutshell. I am depressed. Yes I know I need help. No I do not want to sob on amy of y friends shoulders, and no I am not going to try to kill myself again. Apparently even when i do want to die Creator will not let me excape this shit and keeps me here.

Yea I sound and feel bitter, sorry if i am tired of being second fiddle to the husband and kids, sorry i an sick of pushing all my dreams, homes and hell even thoughts aside to help boost their egos, and keep them going.

So here is my little rant. I tried to kill myself, cannot even do that right, so i sit here and listen to Jim go on and on about his stupid boards to repair and listen to him groan and complain about his pain that i cannot help with and slip deeper and deeper into this hole that is my heart.

Gee bright and cheery isnt it. Well I am going to go do the one thing I can do to even remotely excape from all of this. I am going to go back to sleep for a while.

I love you all and I am sorry I scared you.

Chilly Morning, Sleepless nights and Running Thoughts

Well I know it has been ages since my last post. But thanks to some super fun insomnia and the kids having to get up for school here i sit. Typing away and dumping everything out onto the web.

Things around here have been hectic, and as always interesting. So I will just dive in. We lost our health insurance this month so I am learning all kinds of fun things about the public health system.. I just can’t wait to take the first trip to the clinic with jim.... Thank god for books and mp3 players..

Things with BJC Mental Health are progressing for services for Mimi. We will see what the psychiatrist says on friday to see what new approach we are going to take. Un til then I am taking things day by day, and looking into some therapy for myself (I am just a weeeee bit stressed) . Chances are Mimi will be in an in home therapy program and possibly if Ladue cannot pick up the slack with her IEP a theraputic school. But we will see how things develop.

I have been working my tail off the last few weeks. When I started helping my boss with scheduling I ended up, as usual, taking things to the wire and filling in the shifts we were short handed myself. Well As of February 1 I am going back to part time. I have to be able to take care of my family and house more than I have to take care of the YMCA. So I am back to 4 hour shifts for the most part and every monday and tuesday off work so i can attend to things here. We will see how that works.

I have got to get the budget straightened out for the household. Right now I keep running the account into the negative and I am sure if that keeps up we will get booted out of the bank. So with the help of the hefty checks I will get in feburary, getting back to a schedule where I will be home to make dinner most every night, and tightening the belt to trim out the non essential costs I will be able to get things better under control. Either that or I need to win the lottery or knock over a bank... But since I cannot ever find a good getaway driver (LOL) I will work the tightened budget angle and get things back into the black. Hmmm I wonder if gypsies still buy kids... JUST KIDDING.

Of course I am also going to reduce the number of felines in the house. I have 3 altered cats that I can easily part with so I am going to work on adopting them out to help cut food costs. In March I will get Muffin and probably Biscuits spayed and place Biscuits as she has earned a nice cushy retirement. As for the kittens, we will see how things progress with them. You just never know what might happen.

Thankfully I have a family that is quite happy living on noodles, cereal and peanut butter sandwiches LOL. Well it won’t be quite that bad but we are going to cut back a lot and stop ordering delivery so darn much. January has been a killer. with me working evenings, by the time i get home from work I am to tired or stressed to make dinner, and I never find time to get to the grocery store anyway so there isnt squat to eat in this place, Sooooo I pick up the phone and call for delivery. That comes to a screeching halt after this week. This afternoon I am going to the store, getting some food so that we can have home cooked (in theory at least even if they are simple) meals instead of take out. I have to admit I am sick of pretty much every delivery place in the area.

Well lets see. Cheyenne is doing good in school. Seems to be getting more confident with her talking, not that she is ready to spout any disertations but she is using simple words and doing pretty well.

Mimi has good days and bad days. More good than bad for the most part. Now if we can just et the school work improved it will be alot smoother. But we will see how things develop with the new plan we are working on with Kathy.

Jim is... Well Jim is Jim. He is still having alot of pain. Still depressed, and still a pain in my rump LOL. But I love him and we are taking things day by day together which makes it a heck of alot easier than it would be without him. Now I just have to get him up off his arse and moving again to loose weight and get some of his mobility back. Since he stopped physical therapy he has gotten progressively worse. Not totally crippled yet but making his way in that direction. That seems pretty stupid to me since we have access to a full gym, heated pool, and all that stuff up at work.. So on my days off I am taking a cattle prod to him and getting him to come with me to work out. Even if all he does is sit on the recumbant bike and takes a nice ride I think It will do wonders for his self esteem and his legs.. So I will be dusting off the cattle prod LOL.

Well I think I have been rambling long enough for one morning.

Wow.. That is a BAD Day

DON"T EVER COMPLAIN ABOUT YOUR JOB
I LOVE MY JOB . . . . .

If you don't laugh out loud after you read this you are in a coma! This is even funnier when you realize it's real!  Next time you have a bad day at work think of this guy.

Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs.

Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 FM in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who was sponsoring a worst job experience contest. Needless to say, she WON !

Hi Sue,

Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother.

Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling  down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you  to make you realize it's not so bad after all .

Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job.

As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit  to the office. It's a wet suit. This time of year the water is quite  cool. So what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature.

It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose. Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no complaints.

What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi.

Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to  itch. So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse.   Within a few seconds my butt started to burn. I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony I realized what had  happened.

The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit. Now, since I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick to it .  However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate.

When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the crack of my butt.

I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other divers, were all laughing hysterically.

Needless to say I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression. When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet.

As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter  running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber.

The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't poop for two days because my butt was swollen shut.

So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt.

Now repeat to yourself, "I love my job, I love my job, I love my job."

Now whenever you have a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day?
May you NEVER have a jellyfish bad day!!!!!

Let it Snow - Random thoughts

Well I woke this morning to the first real snow of the year (as in the white fluffy stuff instead of the ice we got yesterday LOL). Fortunately I do not have to work today so I get to sit and watch it snow instead of being out in traffic and dealing with the nuts that tend to try to drive in this. It is beautiful to watch. Now I could do without the 20 degree weather that is along with the snow. I cannot wait to get moved to Oklahoma and not have such bitterly cold weather to deal with.

Scrolling through the list of school closings this morning

I see that apparently the administration out at Winfield has gone retarded again and is having school.. Every other school in the county is closed but they are going... I cannot wait until mom retires from that place. I worry about her having to be out in this kind of crap. Granted she has more experience driving in this kind of weather than anyone i know but I still worry..

The girls both have school today.. But with just a light dusting on the roads there really is nothing to worry about here. At least not unless it starts snowing harder. Of course if it does then they will send the kids home early then we will have to have hot chocolate with our tomato soup and grilled cheese sammiches. :-P

But for the time being I get to look forward to curling up in my nice warm bed and taking a morning nap. Then this afternoon i am going to get some laundry and cleaning done. I also plan to do some writing, blogging and reading.. Yea i know it sounds like a ton of stuff packed into one afternoon but the cleaning part is pretty quick so I am sure I can get a few words blogged, at least a page written, and possibly finish the book I am working on.

I love working with Bitten By Books - www.bittenbybooks.com- and Simply Romance reviews - www.simplyromancereviews.com -. Both sites are run by really great people, and of course getting tons of free books to read is always a plus. With my DS set up to read ebooks I can take a huge collection of books with me wherever i go. Its great. I actually use the ebook software more than any game rom. I do keep games on there as well for the times when i cannot focus enough to read and just want to vedge out.

well it is almost time for the bus to get here to pick up Cheyenne so i am going to cut this ramble off for now and get ready to crawl back into snuggley warm bed once i have little bit off to school for the day.

Be safe, keep warm, and remember to always tell the people you care about that you love them as often as you can.

Well I got 7 book reviews written tonight. Thankfully I do not have to work at the YMCA tomorrow. If I did I would be dead on my feet.

This is about how i feel right now LOL.

Fortunately I am killing the cats, taking a pill, and going to sleep. Tomorrow I plan to get some more writing done, blogs, stories and reviews... As well as cleaning up the house some.

Other than that I am off to Nod..

New Software to play with

So I took some time and invested in a new software to see if it will make my life any easier maybe make writing a little quicker to so far it seems to work pretty well there aren’t as many errors as I expected and it’s actually kind of fun.

So right now everything around the house is absolutely insane we are taking Mimi in for an assessment this week due to the fact that she uses apparently slipping further and further away in the aspect that she’s constantly lying to everyone and it’s just I can’t even put into words what we’ve been going through. I’m hoping that with this assessment we will be able to come up with a treatment plan will best benefit her and help us to learn to cope with what’s going on.

Things are so stressful right now I just don’t know what to do anymore, I just go to work every day, come home, take care of Jim and the kids, and how things go relatively smooth for the evening.

Emotionally and physically this is the most taxing experience I’ve ever had in my life. That itself on its all said and done everything is better and at least we have a better handle on things, but truly only time will tell.

I was going through my photo up on this morning and found a poster that pretty much describes what I feel like these days.

While I guess it’s time to get ready for work and see how today goes.

Maybe a play around the software some more tonight and get some of my book reviews done and maybe even get some writing in.

2008 Japanese Festival

SUMO - TAIKO - and some damn good Japanese food LOL That is what my Labor day consisted of. Jim, Bryan, Eddie, Mimi, and Cheyenne and I went to the Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden. As always it was a blast. It was so great to have Jim with us this year (last year he did not feel up to coming along) even if his wheel chair did break (AGAIN).

Though I have found that calling the corporate headquarters scares the crap out of a local office and gets things moving faster. Not only are they sending me a new wheel for the front they are sending a spare just in case and they got back with me Today as opposed to the 2 months it took last time LOL. I love it ;-)

But back to the festival. We did some shopping ( I got a great cotton Kimono to use as a robe that actually fits right - reaches the floor on my 6ft 2 in person LOL) found the place we are going to get Cheyenne’s halloween costume (she wants to be a Japanese maiden so we are getting her a kimono and obi) we have to go to the shop because they didn’t have her size left at the festival, no big deal this way she has lots to choose from.

At one point i lost Jim and Bryan, once jim finally answered his phone (LOL) I met up with them in the Bonsai display Here are a couple of our favorite Bonsai:

Bryan took a TON of pictures of the Bonsai so I will have to pester him for copies of all his pictures too :-)

We also saw the Taiko Drums, as always they were awesome, and of course the SUMO which is always my favorite.

Uncle Fats (Koryu) and Tyler (Sunahama) put on a great show and everyone had a blast.

During the Taiko Cheyenne got a little bored so I took her over to the fountain to play

She was SOAKED LOL.

On the way out I took jim over to see the floating globes in one of the reflecting pools

After the gardens we went to IHOP for dinner. Then we toodled home to collapse LOL.

All in all we had a wonderful day as a family. And other than my getting sunburn (silly me wore a tank top and no Sunscreen...) and everyone being exhausted when we finally got home, none of us were the worse for wear.

Now it is back to the Grind- Planning Mimi’s 16th birthday party, work, and the home stuffs LOL. But it was a nice day away from the norm. I can’t wait till next year.

http://www.mobot.org/events/japanesefestival/

Alright all. It is that time of year again.. Time for the Japanese Festival at the Botanical Gardens. August 30, 31, and September 1.

I am off work all weekend, Jim has a hot set of wheels so we can cruise all day long, they have Taiko and Sumo.. Who wants to come with us..

*grin*What day do we want to go? *bounces happily* WOOHOO

Can you tell I really like the Japanese festival.. It is one of my favorite events at the Gardens. And the fact that I have the weekend off (Job at the YMCA that i started earlier this month is going great BTW) and actually have a little money means I am SOOOOO going LOL ;-)

Changes....

New days

There have been alot of events in the last few weeks that have kept me from my writing and my journals..

1. New developments int he case against Mimi’s Mom. *chuckle* I have a feeling things will turn out Juuuust fine on that front.

2. New Ink - I got a new tattoo, well actually I had the butterflies for Cheyenne and Mimi added to the flower tattoo that i share with my sister. Pics will be posted asap :-)

3. New Job - I started training for Member services at the Edward Jones YMCA in maryland heights this week. I will be working with Marylynn and so far all the people I have met that work there have been pretty nice so i think I will really enjoy it.

4. New School Year for the Kids. Cheyenne started school on the 14th and Mimi starts on the 18th so there was shopping for clothes and school supplies, then meeting Cheyenne’s teacher and getting her off on her first day of school. Then Monday I get to see Mimi off for her first day. I think this is going to be a good year for them both.

Sooo all in all things are going well here. Knee hurts (diagnosed with arthritis) but tylenol usually knocks that out and if its bad i have vicodin as a backup. Jim is.. Jim. He has not gotten any worse but he has not gotten any better either. I look forward to being able to get him up to work a couple days a week and get him exercising again to try and regain some strength, the PT did him worlds of good so with all the equipment right there there is no reason he cant do what he did there only at the Y and not so stinking expensive. My only stress is figuring out what we are going to do about health insurance come october (hopefully we will get accepted for state assistance on that front) and trying not to strangle all the cats LOL..

All in all though Life is good;)

Today, I cleaned up your mess

This is a striking comment but one that needs to be seen:

You decided that you wanted to move to an apartment that didn't allow
pets (and by the way, landlords are forbidden to do this in Toronto).
I don't know what lured you. Maybe it was a boyfriend or a
girlfriend. Maybe it was a great view. Maybe you liked the woodwork.
At any rate, it was more important to you than she was. So you took
her down to the shelter, still wearing her cute little pink leopard
collar with a bow, and you cheerfully wrote on the card that she was
very healthy for her age and friendly and just likes to sleep in the
sun! I guess you knew her pretty well - you put her birthday down on
the card, too, making me believe you've probably had her for her
entire life.

Then you left, secure in your rationalization that somehow, in the
midst of kitten season, your seventeen year old cat would find a
home. The shelter took a picture of her scared face and big eyes and
put it on the web.

For two weeks, I looked at that picture. I hoped someone else would
see her fear and feel compelled to help her, but the public wasn't
seeing her. She was back in isolation, getting vitamin B shots and
subcutaneous fluids. The tech wrote "depressed" on her card. I'm not
surprised. I'd be depressed too if I went from "sleeping in the sun"
to a metal cage with a thin layer of newspaper.

Finally today, I couldn't stand it anymore. I felt too guilty
thinking about her sitting in that cage at her age. So I went down
and I got her, and now she's curled up on a fleece baby blanket in a
cat tree in my bathroom. When I go in there, she rubs her head on my
hand.

Today, I cleaned up your mess. I felt worse for your cat than you
did. And all over the city, other rescuers did the same. They rescued
your abandoned cats and dogs and bunnies and exotics. And we all
wondered the same thing as we did it: How could you create this
situation? How is it that you feel no remorse? How is it that you
were you able to walk away from an animal you shared your home with
for a year, ten years, fifteen years, knowing that they might die
because of your actions?

I'll never meet you to ask you those questions. I just hope I meet
the person who will be good enough to give your baby that sunny spot
to sleep for the rest of her life (however long that is). She
deserves it, and it's a crying shame you didn't have the decency to
give it to her.

This was originally posted in 2006. I am emailing this because the
message hasn't sunk in! I am hoping that just a a few people, well at
least one person, passes this on.

I don't care if you lick windows, sniff toilet seats or occasionally mess yourself..

You hang in there Sunshine, You're Freakin' Special!!!!

To all the WAP I know and Love. Have a GREAT DAY!!!!

Moonlight shimmers across the open waters of life as we all seek our path. And sometimes we are luck enough to cross paths with those who we will share a deep portion of our lifes with. Dear friends are a blessing and we should guard each one as a precious gift from the Creator. Always watch out for those you love and help them along the path as well as you can. May your path be one of love and happiness and may you never slip into the depths of the waters and loose your trail.

Well today is my birthday (well was as it is almost time to go to bed.) All in all it was a great day.

Mom, Dona and Grandma came in from the country, Roger, Bryan, Sarah Jane and Sami, Eddie and Cheyenne all came over. I was even pleasantly surprised when Momma Kathleen and Pappa Joe, and Joe’s son James, showed up for a brief visit.

I opened presents, we had cake and visited for a while then Mom n Co when home, Sarah Jane and Sami took off to take Lilly for her Sunday run, and Eddie took Mimi to church and Chey to a movie.

So that left Jim, me, Roger and Bryan for dinner. We ordered Ciceros and relaxed to watch a movie and shoot the shit. After dinner we finished the movie and the guys went home.

Mimi and Chey just got home and have toodled off to bed. Which is where I am headed after I post this journal entry and finish uploading the pics from today :-).

Truthfully, though we didn’t do anything fancy or go anywhere special this was one of the best birthdays I can remember. I had a ton of family around me, lots of laughter and love. It was awesome. If I could change anything I would have a few people who were not able to be here around, but they are in my heart and thoughts so that is alright.

Well here are a few pics from today then I am off to dreamland.
